Getting Settled in Borger, Texas

Just to let everyone know that we have made it to Borger, and we are getting un-packed (AGAIN) and setting up housekeeping! We have been welcomed by the friendly people here. A group from First Baptist helped moved us in, and people are bending over backwards to help us. I have no doubt that if we came here with just the clothes on our back, these people would have us a house full of everything we would need. It has been truly unbelievable. We are praying that this area will be made for us a permanent home. We love the area and the weather!

The kids are doing great. We were greeting the first day we got here with girls bouncing up and down eager to see Gabby. She met these girls over the summer, and they became fast friends. Robby and I have also made quick friends with the Dixon's, their parents. They have really made us to feel home. Of course our friends, the Websters are here, Chery, and her 3 teenagers. What a wonderful family! They have really been working with us to get the house in livable condition. In fact, Chery, Saturday night, was ironing clothes for me for Sunday morning worship. I am at the Webster right now. To save money for now, we are going to wait on a phone line, so I can only post letters, not pictures (sorry Mammaw and Aunt Kristi)! We will have to send pictures the old fashioned way!

I do need to go, as this is not my computer. Hopefully I can blog once a week--maybe more, but homeschooling will be starting full force Monday, so I may be lucky to do it once a month!

Moving AGAIN!

Well, it's official--we're moving (again)! We will be heading up to Borger, Texas (about an hour from Amarillo). God has been so great, blessing us with His people. We've had so many people praying for us and helping us out, and we are so thankful that in this time of "wondering," that He does care for us. Last week in a sermon at John Knox in Ruston, the pastor quoted the verse about the sparrow falling from a tree. I cannot, to save my life, remember the exact verse. But it reminded me that God is taking care of us. We aren't going through half of what other people are going through. We still have our possessions, and we have all our family, but I still feel guilty when I think "Why did we go to Biloxi only to be run out of there in such a short time? There are a few good few reasons and here they are:

One, I got a chance to be with one of my very best friends--my mother. I got to enjoy her so much. You know when you where little and remember all the things you put your parents through? Now I tell her I am so sorry, because now, as a mother, I am going through it! Mom and I got a chance to play solitare. We were even concocting stories to tell our husbands if we both got the urge to play, "Honey, I gotta go out and get some milk and a few things...." Of course they would know where we would be going. They knew that we were in over our heads. I'll never forget those times with her and our garage sale times together (when I was a teenager, you couldn't have seen me at a garage sale). Now you can't see me paying over 10.00 for an item of clothing! (And I'll be the first in line waiting for the person to lift the garage door)!

Another cherished time was to see my dad with his grandkids. He was having so much fun with them, playing with them, teaching them, asking them important questions, taking them to the park and McDonalds. I told him that I saw him entering sainthood. Dad, you've arrived! Not only was he spending time with them, he was guiding them, disciplining them. He never had to spank them, because they knew he meant business, and they respected him (they usually knew they'd be getting a visit from Mr. Spoon and Mommy or Daddy).

Thank you Mom and Dad for the memories you created with your grandchildren (and with me). We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and will cherish those memories. I enjoyed our time there and would do it all over again.

Blog Questions

Does anyone know how I can get advertisers stop commenting on my blog? Also, how do I put fellow bloggers blog address on my site?
These signs were often seen on our first trip to MS. On our way back from the second trip, you could not use a debit card or purchase ice or fountain drinks. Posted by Picasa
This is the line for gas. The line was at least 1/2 mile long--if not longer. If I remember right, this is Hattisburg. When we went to check on the house, every city we went to, there was a long line to get gas. Posted by Picasa
This is the tree that fell toward our house. Actually, it is resting on the house--no damage that we noticed. Posted by Picasa

This is a road leading straight to the beach. In fact, if you look hard enough you can see the ocean. None of these houses made it. This area will definately have to re-build. Posted by Picasa
This was at a house not too far from the beach. Posted by Picasa
This area we just happened upon. I wanted to take some pictures on the beach. Of course they were not letting people drive, but we could stand at the corner and take as many pics as we wanted. This is where the apartment building was that went down right away, and 30 people were inside. Posted by Picasa
See the horizontal line? That is the water line for this particular area. If you followed the line, it would take you up to the interstate. Posted by Picasa
I had wondered why all those things were in the tree, and someone explained that the water got that high and the clothes, misc, attached to the tree. I guess I would have figured it out. Posted by Picasa
A sign posted about 3 blocks from the beach. Posted by Picasa

This boat greeted my brother and sister-in-law as they arrived to their neighborhood--this helped them to prepare for what was ahead. Please pray for them! Posted by Picasa
This is my brother's 2nd story house. The first floor is in the back of their house in a neigbor's yard. They were, since the fram was still up to retrieve some things from their house. Posted by Picasa
This a business that is a block over from my parent's house. We thought this would determine what the houses looked like on our road. Several trees were down, but only one on our road hit a house. It was miraculous to see all the massive trees down and only one hit a house! Posted by Picasa
There are moments of crying and moments to make light of the situation. This is my brother, Bud (Ben). I believe he found his fishing gear. Fishin' anyone?  Posted by Picasa
On the way to work at my brother's house, we saw this house and had to get a picture. Posted by Picasa
This is the Shark Store. In the front of the store was a man-made shark head. When you would walk in the store, you had to walk through the shark. We visited this tourist place many a time just this summer. We are all sad to see the shark sail away. Posted by Picasa
This is my nephew, Christopher. He's making the best of the situation despite he lost most of all his belongings. Posted by Picasa
My brother, Greg took these pictures. He said that there was a mauseliem >SP? Anyway in the same place, and he said they were all open. Thanks, Greg, for not sending those pics! Posted by Picasa
This is my brother, Greg; he came from Lafayette to help out my brother and his family, although I am not sure this is his toilet or a neighbors. Actually this looks like a shopping center parking lot. Pretty far away from where a toilet should be! Posted by Picasa
This is where Robby was doing a festival Saturday--two days before Katrina. Posted by Picasa

Going to Biloxi

We wanted to let everyone know that we are heading to Biloxi this afternoon (Friday). Please be in prayer for us. Also, be in prayer for the kids and their grandparents. The kids are doing well despite they don't have their toys and home. Pappaw brought out the above ground swimming pool, so that will help the kids get some of there energy out without zapping them too much with this hot weather.

I talked to my mom this morning. My dad and brother left for Biloxi about 5a.m. They made it there safely; in fact, my brother picked up the phone to see if it would work, and it did. They did not have electricity, but they are very sure that they will be getting it soon, as Ocean Springs does.

My brother's house looked like a yard sale yesterday as people found out about my brother and his family. People are sending clothes, food, towels, everything you could imagine. Bless those people!

We covet your prayers and will keep in touch as soon as possible. Our cell #'s, although they may not work are:
