Gabby thought over everything--bringing

Random Pics

Gabby took these pictures; this is a picture of
our Prairie Gold wheat that we grind. I did not
know that she took this picture, and I was sorry
that I asked if she got the kids to wash their hands :0

We didn't know Morgan was that fond of
snowmen!

Gabby loves to play with the camera; Morgan
entertains her.

Caelin gave Gabby some flowers to Gabby this year. He even wrote a poem. Maybe I can get him to publish it on his blog. Makes a momma want to cry! My sweet boy!

You Only Turn 13 Once

We are celebrated out over here (or I am) with Gabby's birthday this year. We went to here Mammaw's one day, Nana's the next, and a few weeks later, we (tried) to surprise her, and then a tea with her friends from church. So hence, 4 cakes.

It Must Have Been the Bean and Rice

Robby wrote me a song this year instead of a poem, and here it is. Gabby surprised me with a poem she wrote for me. It surely was a good Valentine's day! Oh, Robby's is to the tune of Barbara Mandrel's song, "It Must Have Been the Mistletoe."

It must have been the beans and rice,
The table setting that looked so nice.
The magic in the winter's air,
That feeling everywhere.

It must have been the high school dance;
Your hair, your blouse, your pretty hands;
They way you moved, they way you smiled.
That made me love you.

Our first Valentine's Day.
More than we'd been dreaming of.
Old Saint Valentine had his fingers crossed,
That we would fall in love.

It could have been our graveyard date,
On Douglas Highway in the evening late.
Or maybe just the stars so bright;
That shined above you.

It could have been the highway trip,
When Grandmother let her question slip.
She asked me if I loved you too,
I smiled and said I do.

Our first Valentine's Day,
More than we'd been dreaming of.
Old Saint Valentine had his fingers crossed
That we would fall in love.

And here is Gabby's:

Thank You Momma

Thank you Momma for being mine.
Thank you for bringing me into this world.
Thank you for always loving me.
Thank you for loving Daddy and my siblings.
Thank you for your advice and comfort.
Thank your for spoiling us sometimes.

I love you because you are mine.
I love you for loving me.
I love you when you act silly.
I love you for being my "Mussa."
I love you when you beat me or throw me off
my chair in solitaire.
I just love you for all those little things.

A Little Random (I think)

During the course of the day, there is so much that goes on around here and while out and about that I frequentl think, "I need to blog about this!" But a day goes by and then another, and then yet another. Now, as I sit here typing, I am BLANK. I want to write but what? Actually, I should say, "What first?" The kids are what take up most of my time, so I will write about them first. I Love my kids. I love every minute I have with them. They truly are wonderful kids, and I don't deserve them. Yet God intrusted them to me, and I want to make my boys mighty warriors and my girls maidens after God's own heart. It is such an awesome responsibility, because everything I do and say will make an impact on their little lives. Sometimes that weighs on me. I am no perfect, and even when I try really hard, I screw up, but I let them know it. I apologize to them for my behavior and ask them to pray for me.

We are enjoying our life here in Centerville. It is a cozy little town, and we are in a little cozy house on about 4 acres of land. Our days are filled up with homeschooling, baking bread, reading Laura Ingalls books after lunch (around the fireplace), preparing meals, logging (don't think it is really called logging but that is what we call it. Our logging consists of backing the truck out into the woods, laying down a tarp and gathering wood for the fire. You wouldn't believe how much firewood we have. Some have to be chopped with the axe, and Gabby, yes, Gabby is our axemen, or should I say axewoman. She goes into chop a tree (one that is already down), and 9 our of 10 times, she hits her mark. She loves this. I am simply awed by her ability. I also admire her. She can do this work without a huff, while my shoulders start aching just thinking of tearing into some timber. Robby has marked some trees in the back yard, toward more wooded area where the trees are dead, and she is taking them out a little at a time. Eventually we are going to build some fencing for our animals. Looks like we are going to have plenty thanks to "Woody," the new name I've given her!

Well I just rambled on, and I thank you for listening. Next time I tell myself I need to blog this, I may just drop everything and do it.
