Click here to view a video dedicated to my Daddy. I love you, Daddy!

Aidan and my dad share a birthday on March 13th. I can't help but now and again when I hear or think about my dad, this song. When I was little, I thought he hung the moon. Now that I am older I KNOW he does. Thank you, Daddy for loving me, knowing that I will never stop loving you.

Aidan being the littlest, sees more in this house than I think he does. Since he was walking, he at various times around suppertime, would take out the plates and put them on the table--in no order whatsover. He would keep stacking the plates (our blue finest plastic plates)--something he would do undoubtedly when I was trying to get something accomplished. I would always get frustrated with him because it meant that we would have to clear "his mess" up before one of the kids had the task to set the table. Finally, one day I realized, he was just doing what his bubbas and sissies would do--maybe not perfect, but he wanted to role in the family. He gave himself the task of setting the table. When I realized that, I started getting him to help me with the laundry--putting clothes in the washer (we have a front loader), so that makes it easy for him. Then when the wash machine is done, he pulls it out of the washer and puts it into the dryer. Sometimes, if I walk away, we might get some extra clothes somewhere they don't need to be, but he is my helper, and I don't mind. So now, when I need help, I incorporate him into the task--something that might seem monotonous to me, but something very big and important to him. Now, if ALL the kids would be as eager to help all the time! And if I would always be eager to do my part. I sure can learn much from a two-year old! In the picture of him "setting the table," he is just merely placing the forks on a napkin--a job that he loves. Emmmm, we'll see how much he loves it when he HAS to!

Happy 12th Birthday Gabby!

Mammaw and Pappaw put this together for Gabby. Pappaw built the outside, and Mammaw decorated the inside. The rooms look so real!

My Turn

Robby came up with a tradition between us, even before we were married--that we were to take turns each year to write to one another. This year was my year, so here is my poem.

A Stolen Heart
To my husband, could it be that fifteenth year?
When you wrote the first poem with the mark of William Shakespeare?
Where has the time gone from that most momentous day
"A Rose Will Bloom," the title, and you the one for whom I prayed.
Our love, was sowed, the seed of it, strong and with holds time.
For you see, God has planted it–so precious, so beautiful, so divine.
He gave us gifts one to another, and just one thing I have to say,
I will never leave you nor forsake you as I promised you upon our wedding day.
Thank you for being our head and for washing me with the Word.
You have a great and mighty job–I am truly blessed--that is for sure.
You have the weight of this world sometimes upon your shoulders,
but God is your delight nonetheless even as we grow older.
My heart has been stolen– you the unmistakable thief.
Had I loved another and not met you– me oh my, good grief!
I could not stand to miss it, this love, this time, these years.
For you, Robby, are my life, my love, the one I respect and revere.

The Bible calls debt a curse and children a blessing;
but in our culture, we apply for a curse and reject blessings.
Something is wrong with this picture." ~ Doug Phillips
